Dear Colleagues,

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the International Colorectal Disease Symposium (ICDS) 2019 will be held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong, on 19-20 January 2019.

Organised by the Hong Kong Society for Coloproctology, this is already the 9th ICDS held in Hong Kong since its inception in 2002. It has always been a landmark event that offers our participants an invaluable opportunity to update and exchange their knowledge on the recent advancements in colorectal disease treatment. The scientific programme of ICDS will consist of high quality keynote and didactic lectures, panel discussions, and video sessions delivered by world-renowned faculty members from the United States, Europe, Asia-Pacific regions, as well as our local institutions.

This year, we are much honoured to have Prof. Bill Heald as one of our Keynote speakers. Regarded as the father of modern rectal surgery, Prof. Heald will share with the delegates his four decades of experience in TME surgery. Furthermore, we are privileged to have Prof. Mariana Berho to deliver the Dr. Hester Cheung Memorial Lecture entitled “Women as Leaders in Medicine”. Another highlight of the programme is the Joint Hong Kong Society for Coloproctology – Korean Society of Coloproctology Symposium Session, where experts from Hong Kong and South Korea will be invited to share their unique local experience in the management of rectal cancer. We trust that you will find all the lectures and panel discussions inspiring and beneficial to your clinical practice.

Hong Kong is a vibrant cosmopolitan city with unique opportunities for sightseeing, shopping, dining, and entertainment. We are sure that you will have a wonderful time here!

We look forward to welcoming you all to this exciting landmark event!

Yours sincerely,
